The large front door opens to a hall with beautiful flagstone floor and off which lead the dining and drawing rooms. These have fireplaces and are lit by large shuttered sash windows which offer far reaching views over the gardens and valley. The inner hall has wide polished oak floorboards from where an oak staircase leads up to the main landing.
The library is a charming room with captures the south light through a walk through sash window, which opens to the terrace and gardens beyond. The kitchen is a large room, with a range of traditional style cupboards and a fitted dresser. There is also a four door oil fired range within the original stone arched recess. French doors open to a further sheltered terrace for outdoor dining and entertaining, while the adjoining garden room is presently an everyday sitting room.
The principal bedrooms lead off the main landing, the master one of which has wood panelling with a marble fireplace, deep moulded ceilings and a large en suite bathroom. The guest bedroom also has an en suite bathroom. Each room has an open fireplace and is served by a family bathroom and shower room. The back staircase leads to the first and second floors where there are a further four bedrooms off a central sitting room, and a further bathroom.
Gardens and Grounds
The house is approached down a long driveway over a cattlegrid to a gravel sweep to the front. Mature trees including Oak, Beech and Ash abound along with banks of rhododendron and a range of other specimen trees. Sloping lawns stretch down to wooded grounds with an extensive lake, once part of Victorian water gardens. To the south of the house is a paved terrace beyond which is the heated swimming pool.
